An O ring is an endless ring with a circular cross section O Ring is defined by its inside diameter (ID) and cross section  (W)
The O Ring is used as a dynamic or static seal usually installed in a rectangular machined groove. O rings are pressure energized, double acting sealing elements. The radial or axial sealing forces depend upon the system pressure.

The result is an increase in the compression of the seal as the pressure rises.

The advantage of the O Rings are the seal is self and double acting. False installation is impossible because of the symmetrical cross section.

Simple groove design
Universal applicability
Economical

O Rings are available from Nitrile Rubber (NBR), Ethylene Propylene ( EPDM), Fluorocarbon (FKM), Neoprene (CR) Silicone (VMQ) in accordance with various standards : Amercian Standards AS568A, DIN3771: BS1806, Metric dimensions with 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, Swedish SMS1586 with 2.4, 3.0, 5.7, 8.4, mm cross section.

FEP encapsulated 'O' Rings consists of a rubber elastic 'O' Rings without seams combining the two material properties in one seal.
The 'O' Ring has the required elasticity and the FEP encapsulation ensures chemical resistance.

Fluorocarbon and Silicone rubber are used as 'O' Ring material.
The dimensions are specified as inside diameter (ID) and the cross section (W) like the conventional 'O' Rings.

The FEP encapusulation is very thin. So the 'O' Rings can be fitted in existing "O" Ring grooves  without additional work.
The advantage of the FEP encapsulated 'O' Rings are :-
Very good chemical resistance, compatible with most fluid and chemicals

No contamination when used with food stuffs pharmaceutical and medical products.

Physiologically harmless, can be sterlised, Low steam permeability.

These 'O' Rings are to be fitted very carefully and should never be buckled, stretched, avoid sharp groove edges and narrow corner angles.
