For those application
involving the separation of two fluids, difficult or unusual sealing
problems, Oil seals are Radial Shaft Seals supplied ready for
assembly and can be used on shafts or axles that rotate clockwise or
counter clockwise.
Generally oil seals are fitted only in spaces with low differential
pressures.
While ordering or seal designing the following inter - dependent
variables must be considered carefully, If the required end product
performance is to be achieved.
a) Medium to be sealed and its chemical details
b) Anticipated operating temperature range both high and low
c) Pressure range and frequency of application
d) Clearance between mating components
e) Degree of lubrication present
f) Frequency and speed of relative motion.
g) Surface finish on adjacent components.
h) Method of handling and installation immediately prior
to assembly.
The oil seals consists of a
rubber, like sleeve and a metallic stiffer ring which forms a
composite product. In the radial direction, the flex section ends
in a lip on which an annular spiral tension spring is inserted.
Depending on the design the radial shaft seal can also be provided
with a dust lip, double lip, inner cap, for exclusion of abrasive &
foreign matter.
Thus the common types are MI,
MIDL, MO MODL, MOC, MOCDL.
Bonded seal, face seal, thread seal for sealing bolt heads, nuts,
and face fitting providing a positive seal directly against the
threads of a bolt / end fittinig.
Self centering and easily installable : Seals are available in
all popular BSP sizes and many other metric sizes. |
